Skiing near Durango, Colorado
On good snow years the skiing near Durango is amazing. Often the weather pattern alternates each year favoring different parts of the country. Last year we had tons of snow. Other areas of the country will likely get hit hard, skiing near Denver will be good and road biking on La Posta is doable even on big snow years. A ton of snow also means there will be great rafting in May and June throughout Southwest Colorado
The closest resort to Durango is Purgatory Ski Resort also known as Durango Mountain. Purgatory ski resort is only about 40 minutes from Durango. Purg is great for beginners and locals. Durango mountain also has some good small cliffs, trees and fun runs for more experienced skiers.

Purgatory is good for beginners or locals. It’s not too steep and the runs are short. On a good snow year, it’s tons of fun. On a bad snow year, you’ll often see the ground on the side of the runs
Wolf Creek is two hours east of Durango, Colorado
Wolf Creek is known for having the most snow in Colorado. Wolf Creek has pretty short runs and great trees. It’s best to stay in Pagosa Springs, near the hot springs or on the other side of Wolf Creek Pass in Del Norte
Telluride is 2 hours from Durango, Colorado
Steep, long runs, great snow, and good restaurants. Great for extreme skiers and borders
Silverton is 2 hours from Durango, Colorado
Great extreme skiing. Skiing at Silverton is guided skiing and is great for experts
